PM Narendra Modi on Sanju Samson: After India's spectacular victory in the T20 World Cup 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised Kerala's star batsman Sanju Samson. Addressing Kerala workers on Friday, PM Modi especially praised Sanju Samson's match-winning performances in pressure matches.

PM Modi said that as the knockout stage of the tournament approached, Samson's focus, confidence and energy continued to increase. When the team needed it most, Samson performed at his best. This is the identity of a true player.

While addressing the workers, PM Modi gave the example of Sanju Samson while explaining the importance of rising to the occasion. He said, 'We often see this in Sanju Samson's performance. During the World Cup, his performance reached its peak as the tournament reached its end. From start to finish, his focus, confidence and enthusiasm became stronger and stronger, which is the mark of a true player.

A great player always performs well when his team needs him the most.

Played an important role in India winning the title

Sanju Samson performed amazingly in T20 World Cup 2026. He scored 321 runs in just five innings, with an average of 80.25 and a strike rate of around 200. He hit 27 fours and 24 sixes. Due to which Samson was chosen the player of the tournament.

Samson proved his ability in important matches. Scored an unbeaten 97 runs in the virtual knockout against West Indies, 89 runs in the semi-final against England and 89 runs in the final against New Zealand.

Due to which India won the title by defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final match. With this victory, India became the first team which was successful in winning the T20 World Cup thrice and also lifting the trophy on home soil.
