Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) team has achieved a special achievement in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. In the match played against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens ground on Thursday, 2 April, the team batted first and registered victory. This is the first team this season, which achieved such a big victory while batting first. Sunrisers defeated Kolkata by 65 runs.

Sunrisers’ strong start

After being invited to bat first, Sunrisers scored 226 runs for 8 wickets, which is the highest score of this season so far. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma gave a great start as the opening pair. Both of them put the team in a strong position by adding 82 runs in just 5.4 overs. Travis Head scored 46 runs in 21 balls, while Abhishek Sharma contributed 48 runs in 21 balls.

KKR tried to make a comeback in the middle overs

Kolkata Knight Riders tried to come back into the match by taking wickets in the middle overs, but Heinrich Klaasen kept the team in a strong position till the end by playing an inning of 52 runs in 35 balls.

Sunrisers made their score huge by adding 51 runs in the last four overs.

KKR’s innings condition

Finn Allen started KKR’s innings with a bang. He scored 25 runs in the very first over. This was the same pitch on which he scored a century in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2026. David Penn’s over also proved to be very expensive, but left-arm spinner Harsh Dubey sent Finn Allen to the pavilion in his very first over.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi completed a brilliant century in 27 balls and took the team to 110 runs for 3 wickets in 10 overs.

However, after his dismissal, KKR’s game completely changed and the team could not compete with the big innings of Sunrisers.
