BCCI on Monday (May 13) invited applications for the post of head coach of Team India for a period of three-and-a-half years. The board has fixed the last date for submission of applications on May 27, 2024. “The selection process will include thorough review of applications, followed by personal interview and evaluation of selected candidates,” the board said in a statement.
The newly selected coach will take charge of the team immediately after the T20 World Cup in America from July 1 and his tenure will end on December 31, 2027. BCCI has also put several conditions for this post.
According to these conditions the age of the applicant should be less than 60 years. Also, he should have played at least 30 Tests or 50 ODIs and the applicant should have at least two years of experience playing a similar role in a full-member Test country.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah had recently said that Dravid would have to reapply if he wants to stay in the post after the T20 World Cup, but the proposed tenure of 3.5 years would make it difficult for Dravid to reapply as he has been in the role since November 2021.
Interestingly, Rahul Dravid's 2-year contract was supposed to expire after the ODI World Cup last year, but the tenure was extended before India's tour of South Africa and the T20 World Cup in America.
