Cricket South Africa has unveiled the CSA central contract for the 2026-27 season, where Dewald Brevis and Corbin Bosch have been handed maiden contracts.

The announcement comes in a period where the men’s national team is aiming to defend its ICC World Test Championship title while also preparing for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027 on home soil.

Meanwhile, Ottneil Baartman and Matthew Breetzke have also been included in the national contracts, while Simon Harmer has been awarded a hybrid contract.

The change in the contracts comes on the basis of the introduction of the Players of National Interest (PONIs) category, designed to identify top Division 1 players as part of the national pipeline and strengthen the squad across all formats.

However, Reeza Hendricks, David Miller and Rassie van der Dussen were out of CSA central contracts. Both Miller and Van der Dussen were the inaugural recipients of the hybrid contracts last year, but at the ages of 36 and 37, they might be in their last phases of the game.

With South Africa scheduled to play eight tests, nine ODIs and three T20Is at home this summer, and preparations for the 2027 World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

On the other hand, Karabo Meso has received her first national contract after an impressive year, which included appearances in all Proteas women’s tours and participation in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 held in India.

The new contracts will be active from June 01, 2026, to May 31, 2027. The men’s schedule features home series against Australia, Bangladesh, and England, along with an away tour to Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, the Proteas women are preparing for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England, followed by a home series against India Women and Australia Women.
