Guwahati: Rajasthan Royals (RR) registered an emphatic win in IPL 2026 by defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by eight wickets. In the match, RR’s fast bowlers decided the direction of the match by dismissing CSK’s opener Sanju Samson early.

This performance was analyzed by former Indian captain Anil Kumble.

In his analysis on JioHotstar, Kumble said that the pitch had support for the fast bowlers, which the RR bowling department exploited in the best way. He said the angle of Nandre Berger’s bowling in the first over was causing problems for Samson, and posed a real challenge to his bat. Kumble said that Joffra Archer’s bowling also surprised the CSK batsmen.

“The pitch was not easy. There was something for the bowlers, there was a bit of moisture. Samson was hit by the first ball from Berger, but the ball came straight to the wicket.

It was a perfect delivery from a left-arm seamer, and Samson was out,” Kumble said.

At the same time, former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina described RR’s opening pair Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal as the game-changer of the game. He said that RR is seeing more bowling and stability in batting this season than before. Referring to captain Riyan Parag’s statement after the match, Raina said that the team will stick to its aggressive strategy as long as the results remain in their favor.

Raina compared the Suryavanshi-Jaiswal pair to the pair of Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli (RCB), who once destroyed the contenders in the IPL.

He said, “Suryavanshi’s half century in 15 balls strengthened RR against CSK. This pair will prove to be very important for RR this season.”

In this match, the sharp bowling of Joffra Archer, Ravindra Jadeja and Nandre Berger and the explosive batting performance of Suryavanshi helped RR win by eight wickets.
