IPL 2026, Bold decision by a player: A case has come to light during IPL 2026 which has shocked the cricket world. While on one hand players all over the world dream of playing in this league, on the other hand now one player seems ready to put his international career at stake for it.
The decision of Sri Lankan fast bowler Nuwan Thushara is currently a topic of discussion. According to reports, Thushara has indicated that if he gets a chance to play in IPL, he may withdraw from playing for the country, due to which his international career is in big danger.
Actually, Nuwan Thushara is stuck in the fitness policy of Sri Lanka Cricket Board. He had failed in the fitness test, after which he was not allowed to play in the foreign league i.e. IPL (IPL 2026). There is a clear rule of Sri Lankan cricket that no player can participate in foreign leagues without passing the fitness test. For this reason, Thushara was not given the necessary no objection certificate to play in IPL 2026.
According to media reports, Thushara has clearly told the board that he should not be included in the central contract. This decision is being linked to his desire to play IPL. If this happens, then this move can prove to be a big blow to his international career, because being out of the central contract can also mean distance from the national team.
Nuwan Thushara was included in their team by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 1.6 crore. However, his playing is still in limbo due to lack of board approval. Thushra has taken 9 wickets in 8 matches in IPL so far. Before this, he had been a part of the Mumbai team, whereas last season he played only one match for Bengaluru.
