Vaibhav Suryavanshi carnage powers Rajasthan to 8-wicket win over CSK

A solid start from Vaibhav Suryavanshi has set up Rajasthan Royals’ comfortable victory against Chennai Super Kings, played at Guwahati.

They went on to secure an 8-wicket victory against Chennai Super Kings and secured a superior run rate of 4.171, securing a top spot in the IPL 2026 points table.

After being invited to bat first, Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad opened the innings while Jofra Archer opened the bowling attack.

With Nandre Burger picking the wicket of Sanju Samson for 6 runs, Jofra Archer picked the wicket of Ruturaj Gaikwad for 6 runs.

Nandre Burger picked the wicket of Ayush Mhatre for a golden duck, and with the dismissal of Matthew Short for 2 runs, CSK lost four wickets in powerplay.

By the end of the power play, Chennai Super Kings scored 41 runs in powerplay. Sarfaraz Khan and Karthik Sharma did show some resistance, scoring double-digit scores.

Ravindra Jadeja, who came to bowl the 8th over, did pick the wicket of Sarfaraz Khan. He went on to pick the wicket of Shivam Dube for 6 runs.

With the dismissal of Karthik Sharma for 18 runs, Chennai Super Kings were in deep trouble as they lost 7 wickets for 74 runs. However, Jamie Overton showed resistance in taking the side past 100 runs.

Noor Ahmad added 1 run while Matt Henry added 5 runs before their dismissals. With Jamie Overton and Anshul Kamboj at the crease, Chennai Super Kings went on to score 127 runs and got bundled out in the final overs.

Rajasthan Royals’ bowling strategy has put Chennai Super Kings in deep trouble in their opener match.

Jofra Archer, Nandre Burger and Ravindra Jadeja picked two wickets each, while Brijesh Sharma, Sandeep Sharma and Ravi Bishnoi bagged one wicket each.

Chasing a 128-run target, youngsters Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi opened the innings while Matt Henry opened the bowling attack.

The duo made a solid start, where Suryavanshi scored a 15-ball fifty. With an aggressive start, the duo made 74 runs in the power play.

Anshul Kamboj brought the first breakthrough, dismissing Vaibhav Suryavanshi for 52 runs. However, the damage was done as the Rajasthan Royals almost sealed a win in the game.

Dhruv Jurel, who came to bat, added 18 runs before his dismissal. Riyan Parag, who came to bat, batted alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal and completed the chase in the 13th over.

Nandre Burger was named the player of the match. He completed his spell with two wickets at 6.50 economy.

Rajasthan Royals will play their next match against Gujarat Titans on April 04 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
