Former Indian cricketer Anil Kumble praised Mumbai Indians star batsman Rohit Sharma for his brilliant half-century against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Kumble described it as Rohit’s return in “2.0 avatar” and said that this innings will be a challenge for all IPL teams.

Anil Kumble said that Rohit showed excellent strokeplay against the top bowlers, the improvement in his fitness was obvious and the timing of the shots was excellent. Kumble said, “Rohit Sharma appeared to be the 2.0 avatar. The way he hit the ball to every corner of the ground, it made him feel in his prime. Hitting six shots against bowlers like Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine and Blessing Muzrabani is not easy, but Rohit made it look easy.”

Kumble further said that Rohit has worked a lot on fitness and after a short break, it takes five to seven days for the batsman to retiming and get the rhythm back. This innings is reminiscent of Wankhede, where Rohit dominates the bowlers with the very first ball. His six-hitting seemed so easy that despite the limited ground, the shots were reaching the stands. Kumble said, “This innings proves that Rohit is now ready to dominate the IPL again.”

MI’s experienced batsman Rohit Sharma scored 78 runs in 38 balls, which included 6 fours and 6 sixes. Whereas KKR scored 220 runs in 20 overs on the basis of half-centuries from Rahane, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Rinku Singh. In reply, brilliant innings from Ryan Rickleton and Rohit Sharma led MI to a six-wicket win against KKR.
