Rohit Sharma created history in the match being played between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2026. As soon as he entered the field in the match being played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Sunday (29 March), Rohit became the first capped player to play all 19 seasons of IPL.

Rohit Sharma made his debut in international cricket in 2007 itself, while IPL started in 2008. In such a situation, he has been playing as a capped player since the first season of the league. This is the reason why this record of his becomes even more special.

Virat Kohli has also played all 19 seasons of IPL, but he started the league in 2008 as an uncapped player. Kohli made his international debut in August the same year, even though the IPL had been played before that.

If we look at Rohit Sharma’s IPL career, he played the first three seasons for Deccan Chargers, where he scored 1170 runs in 45 matches. After this, he joined Mumbai Indians in 2011 and since then has remained the most important player of the team.

Under his captaincy the team has won the IPL title 5 times, making him one of the most successful captains in the history of this league.
