Manali/Keylong. The weather has once again changed for the tourists visiting the tourist places of Himachal Pradesh. After the sunshine for the last few days, the valleys are now covered with a white blanket of snow. The rain that started late Saturday night in the upper hills of Manali and Lahaul Valley turned into heavy snowfall on Sunday morning. The entire Lahaul valley including the South Portal of Atal Tunnel is now shining like silver.
Intermittent snowfall is occurring in the higher reaches of Lahaul-Spiti district such as Koksar, Jispa, Darcha, Shinkula and Baralacha-La. After the fresh snowfall on Rohtang Top, the view of the entire valley has become very charming. However, this snowfall has once again brought back the severe cold in the valley. Due to continuous rains in the low-lying areas of Manali and Kullu, there has been a huge drop in the temperature, due to which people have again been forced to hide in warm clothes.
According to Meteorological Center Shimla, there is no possibility of relief in the state for the next few days. The department has predicted bad weather in the entire state from March 29 to April 3. Especially on March 29 to 31 and then on April 2-3, there may be moderate rain and snowfall in many parts of the state. There is a possibility of light snowfall in the higher reaches on April 1 also.
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning not only about snowfall but also about strong winds. There is a possibility of storm with a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour in many districts of the state on March 29-30 and April 2-3, for which ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued. Tourists have been advised not to stop near unsafe trees or structures.
In view of the bad weather and slippery roads, the local administration has made strict security arrangements. In view of the safety of tourists, the permission of two-wheelers to go beyond the Solang barrier has been completely stopped. Only 4×4 (four by four) vehicles are being allowed to proceed in extremely urgent situations. The administration has appealed to the tourists and local people not to move towards high altitude areas without any valid reason and follow the guidelines of the Meteorological Department during the journey.
