Delhi: Three-time IPL winner Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) could not start their season with a win. In the match played at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Kolkata by six wickets.

Cameron Green not bowling became a topic of discussion

In this match, the most expensive player bought by Kolkata, Australian all-rounder Cameron Green did not bowl, which surprised cricket fans and experts. Kolkata had bought him for Rs 25.20 crore, and he was considered a player who could benefit the team in both the departments.

After the match, when captain Ajinkya Rahane was asked why Green did not bowl, Rahane looked a little upset. He said, “The answer to this question should be asked from Cricket Australia (CA).”

Challenge for Kolkata bowlers

Rahane also talked about the condition of his bowlers and said that the experience of the team’s bowling attack is limited. He said, “This match was very challenging for our bowlers. There was a strong batting order in front, which will prove to be a learning experience for them. It is expected that Green will start bowling early and make changes in our team combination.”

Rahane’s injury and strong batting

During the match, Rahane had to leave the field due to injury and Rinku Singh had to take over the captaincy. Regarding the injury, he said, “There was a lot of strain in my calf, but I am feeling good. Hopefully I will be completely fit soon.” However, Rahane performed brilliantly in batting. He scored 67 runs in 40 balls, which included three fours and five sixes.

Kolkata team scored 220 runs, Mumbai achieved the target

Batting first, Kolkata Knight Riders scored 220 runs losing four wickets in 20 overs. While chasing the target, Mumbai Indians batted brilliantly and achieved this target by losing four wickets in just five balls.
