Bengaluru, March 28, 2026: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar praised Virat Kohli’s batting and described him as the team’s top “cheesemaster”. Patidar said that he has always liked Kohli’s batting and it is great to watch him play from the dugout. He especially praised Kohli’s shot selection and ability to understand the match situation.

Kohli scored an unbeaten 69 in the opening match of IPL 2026 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), which included five fours and as many sixes in 38 balls. His innings helped Bengaluru achieve the fastest 200+ run target in IPL history. RCB made this record while chasing the target of 202 runs in just 15.4 overs.

“Virat Kohli is our No. 1 chessmaster, as we know. I have always liked his batting and it is great to watch from the dugout. The way he plays shots and assesses the situation is always good,” Patidar told reporters.

Apart from this, Patidar also praised RCB fast bowler Jacob Duffy. He said the team has full confidence in Duffy and his bowling performance and planning have been excellent.

“He is a specialist T20 bowler and we have a lot of confidence in him. That’s why he has been given the opportunity. The way he is bowling, the way he is showing his skills, it is fantastic,” Patidar said.

Duffy took 3 wickets against Sunrisers Hyderabad to help his team win by 6 wickets and start their IPL 2026 campaign. Duffy also received the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his excellent bowling.
