Before the start of Indian Premier League 2026, big news has come for the fans of MS Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings. Chennai Super Kings issued an official statement saying that Dhoni is suffering from a calf injury and is in rehabilitation. For this reason, he will not be able to be a part of the team in the first two weeks of IPL 2026.

CSK said in its statement that Dhoni’s fitness is being constantly monitored and he is expected to recover soon.

The team will start its campaign on March 30, where the match will be played against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati. In such a situation, Dhoni’s absence in the initial matches is being considered a big blow for the team.

Questions have been raised about Dhoni’s fitness for some time. Recently, during a program organized in Chepauk, he himself admitted that his fitness is not the same as before. Due to knee and age problems, he was seen batting lower in the order last season and played the role of scoring fast runs in the death overs.

The team management also seems to be making preparations keeping the future in mind.

Ruturaj Gaikwad is captaining the team, while the wicketkeeping options have been strengthened with the inclusion of Sanju Samson. Apart from this, investment has also been made in young players, indicating that the franchise is working on a post-Dhoni strategy.

Talking about Dhoni’s IPL career, till now he has scored 5439 runs in 278 matches. His average is 38.30 and strike rate is 137.45. He has 24 hidden and 84 not out is his best score.

In such a situation, the discussion regarding IPL 2026 has also intensified that this could be Dhoni’s last season.

However, the fans are hopeful that he will soon get fit and return to the field and will once again be seen finishing the match in his own style.
