Before the start of the tournament, bad news has come for five-time champion Chennai Super Kings. The news is that former team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni will remain away from the field for the first two weeks of IPL-2026. Dhoni has a calf injury and has not fully recovered from it yet.

According to reports, Chennai Super Kings has issued a statement this morning giving this information. CSK informed that Dhoni is currently undergoing rehab. For this reason he will remain out for the first two weeks. Chennai will play its first match in IPL 19 against Rajasthan Royals on March 30 in Guwahati. In the absence of Dhoni, Sanju Samson, who joined the team this season, will be seen performing the responsibility of wicketkeeper for CSK.

MS Dhoni had undergone knee operation in the year 2023.

Earlier, team captain Ruturaj Gaikwad had indicated that Sanju Samson would open with him. From this it is certain that in Dhoni’s absence he will also handle the responsibility of wicketkeeping.
