According to reports, BCCI is also going to earn huge income from this deal. The board is expected to get around Rs 1550 crore from the sale of Rajasthan Royals while around Rs 1583 crore is expected from the RCB deal. This amount will be received under the 5 percent mandatory fee charged on franchise transfer.

In fact, the agreement of all the 10 IPL teams includes a rule that whenever the ownership stake of any franchise changes, 5 percent of its total value will have to be paid to BCCI as transfer fee. Apart from this, the approval of BCCI and IPL Governing Council is also required to complete any deal. This is why the board gets a direct financial benefit from every big franchise sale.

If we look at both the deals, Rajasthan Royals has been bought for about 1.63 billion dollars (about Rs 13500 crore). It was won by a consortium led by American businessman Kal Somani. At the same time, RCB has been sold for 1.78 billion dollars (about Rs 14700 crore). It has been bought by a consortium of Aditya Birla Group, American investor David Blitzer and private equity firm Blackstone.

However, the final figure of BCCI’s total earnings is not clear yet, because teams like SA20’s Paarl Royals and CPL’s Barbados Royals are also included in this deal. In such a situation, the board’s share may increase slightly.

Big changes will also be seen in the new management of RCB. Aditya Birla Group’s Aryaman Vikram Birla will be the team chairman, while Times Internet’s Satya Gajwani will play the role of vice chairman. The consortium also includes big names like David Blitzer and Viral Patel.

Meanwhile, speculations about changing the name of RCB have also increased, although no official decision has been taken yet. It is noteworthy that RCB is the current IPL champion and its women’s team has also won the WPL 2026 title. In such a situation, the new ownership team will face the challenge of maintaining this success.
