Lucknow: The 63rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 has been lost to rain. Actually, Gujarat Titans (GT) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were facing each other at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It was cloudy since the beginning of this match and it was raining continuously. However, once the rain stopped midway, the cover was removed and the umpire reached the field. They talked for some time but by then it started raining again. After this the cover could not be removed and the match did not start.

Due to the match being washed out due to rain, KKR has now confirmed its place in the top-2. Even if they lose their next match from here, they will still be seen playing in the first qualifier. Let us tell you that the team which finishes in the top-2 gets two chances in the playoffs and now Kolkata will be seen playing the first qualifier. This match will be played on May 21 in Ahmedabad, where the team finishing second will face Kolkata.

If we talk about Gujarat, for them it was like fight or die. Due to no match due to rain, now GT is completely out of the IPL 2024 playoffs. After Mumbai and Punjab, Gujarat is the third team which is out of the playoff race this season. The team captained by Shubman Gill has not performed well this season and has won only 5 out of 13 matches. With this, now they will not be able to progress beyond the league stage this season. Gujarat has to play its last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on 16 May.

Kolkata currently appears to be the strongest team this season. They have won 9 out of 13 matches played so far, while one match was lost due to rain. Currently, they remain at the first position in the points table with 19 points in 13 matches. The team captained by Shreyas Iyer now has to play its last match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on 19 May.
