Shubman Gill is determined to make a mark in IPL 2026, which kicks off on March 28. As captain of the Gujarat Titans, he has stressed the value of focus and composure while leading the side. Speaking at a Titans event in Ahmedabad, Gill said staying true to yourself and keeping cool under pressure are key to performing at the highest level.

“I’m simply being myself, and the calm I feel comes from the trust I have in my team and confidence in my own game,” Gill said.

“Keeping calm in every situation allows you to see beyond the immediate moment, understand the bigger picture, and develop a clear long-term perspective,” he added

However, he expects the GT fast bowlers to bring energy. “I want them to be more like Ashu Pa (GT coach Ashish Nehra). I keep seeing reels of him calling out dropped catches,” he mentioned with a smile. The clip Gill refers to is from years ago, showing Nehra, then a left-arm pacer for India, giving his teammates a piece of his mind over missed catches.

Since their debut, the Gujarat Titans have been one of the IPL’s most consistent sides, claiming the title in their first season and finishing runners-up in 2023.

Shubman Gill’s leadership builds on this momentum, emphasising clear communication, confidence, and mutual trust among the players.

The Gujarat Titans kicked off IPL 2026 with their landmark event, Shubharambh 2026, bringing together players, management, partners, and fans. The event celebrated the start of a new season while reflecting on the franchise’s journey and growth over the years.

The Titans will open their IPL 2026 campaign against Punjab Kings in Mullanpur on March 31, before hosting their first home game against Rajasthan Royals in Ahmedabad on April 4.
