Direct competition among 3 players for ODI World Cup 2027, who will enter Team India?

ODI World Cup 2027 Whose place will be confirmed in Team India? Which player will win to get entry in the team? In a media report a few days ago, it was said that the Indian selector has prepared the list of 20 probable players for the ODI World Cup 2027. But all 20 cannot find a place in the final list of players prepared for the World Cup. The biggest question will be regarding that place in the team, for which there will be a direct competition between three players. We are talking about the place of pace all-rounder in the team of ODI World Cup 2027. There are 3 contenders for this place – Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dubey and Nitish Reddy.

The role of pace all-rounder will be important in ODI WC 2027.

The 2027 ODI World Cup is to be played on the fast pitches of South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, in such a situation it is natural for the role of pace all-rounder to increase in the team. To give depth to its batting, which is what head coach Gambhir is thinking, it is possible that two pace all-rounders may also be selected in Team India. If this happens then the question is that among Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dubey and Nitish Reddy, which two will get a place in the team and which one will get a clean slate?

hardik pandya

First of all, let's talk about Hardik Pandya, who is currently the most experienced all-rounder of Team India. Pandya played his last ODI for India in March 2025. Injury has been Pandya's biggest problem, due to which he stayed away from ODI cricket in the year 2024. After the ODI World Cup 2023, the February-March 2025 series was the first time in which he was seen playing ODI. Now again he is away from ODI cricket for a year.

Shivam Dubey

Talking about the second all-rounder Shivam Dubey, he is a left-handed batsman and right-handed bowler and has staked his claim to replace Hardik Pandya in Team India. However, the way Team India has used Shivam Dubey in T20, it has not used the same in ODI cricket. He played his last ODI in August 2024. Hardik Pandya's ODI career is only 4 matches. But, seeing the way he has shown his maturity in helping India win the T20 World Cup 2026 title, the Indian team management would definitely like to make him a regular part of their ODI cricket game plan.

Nitish Reddy

Like Shivam Dubey, Team India's third all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy also has an ODI career of only 4 matches. But, his performance is better than Shivam in that. In those 4 ODIs, he has scored 100 runs with 1 half-century. Nitish Reddy played his last ODI in January this year.

Regarding the ODI World Cup 2027, Team India's head coach Gautam Gambhir has already said that his preparations for it will start after IPL 2026. Now it remains to be seen that among the three all-rounders of the Indian team, who gets the ticket to the World Cup and who faces disappointment?
