Before IPL 2026, Chennai Super Kings suffered a big blow when the team’s star bowler Nathan Ellis was out due to injury. Now the team has announced his replacement. CSK has included Australian fast bowler Spencer Johnson in its team.
Just before the start of IPL 2026, Chennai Super Kings suffered a big blow when Australian fast bowler Nathan Ellis was ruled out of the entire season due to a hamstring injury.
Ellis could have played an important role for the team, especially in the death overs, but the injury dealt a big blow to CSK’s plans. In fact, Ellis had re-aggravated his old injury during a recently played home ODI Cup final, after which he needs about three months of rehabilitation. In such a situation, the franchise had to immediately find his replacement.
Now that there is less than a week left for the start of IPL 2026, CSK on Tuesday (24 March) announced his replacement.
According to the press release issued by IPL, Australian fast bowler Spencer Johnson has been included in the team for Rs 1.5 crore.Spencer Johnson has played 13 matches for Australia in international cricket, which includes 5 ODIs and 8 T20 matches.
He has taken a total of 18 wickets in these matches.Talking about IPL experience, Johnson has previously played for Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders. However, his performance so far has not been very impressive and he has taken only 5 wickets in 9 matches. In such a situation, his performance is going to be very important for CSK this season.
Five-time champion Chennai Super Kings will enter the field with new enthusiasm this time. The team will start its campaign on March 30 against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati. Last season’s performance was disappointing, so fans will expect a better start from the team this time.
