– Now monitoring of patients in Halat Hospital will be completely hi-tech and AI based.
– Special beds will issue alerts several hours before the patient’s condition becomes critical.
Kanpur. There are preparations to install beds equipped with AI technology in Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital i.e. Hallett Hospital affiliated to Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College. Smart beds will send alerts to doctors and nurses before the condition worsens by monitoring the patient’s heartbeat and every small movement.
Smart beds will improve the quality of treatment given to patients, because as soon as the alert is received, doctors and nurses will be able to reach in time and save lives. It is being considered as a big and first step of AI technology in the government hospitals of the state.30 beds will be installed in the first phase
Dr. Sanjay Kala, Principal of the Medical College, said that two new wards have been prepared in the hospital, where in the initial phase at least 30 beds will be equipped with these AI-smart mattresses. These beds are based on indigenous technology and are being deployed through CSR funds under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
The price of each smart bed is said to be around Rs 5 lakh. These work by using thin sensor sheets placed under the bed mattress, which use ballistocardiography technology to capture micro-vibrations of the body, such as every heartbeat, breathing and body movement. AI algorithms process this data to continuously monitor heart rate, respiration rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation and other vital signs.AI mattress will send alert two hours in advance
‘Code Blue’ situations often occur in hospitals, when a patient’s condition suddenly worsens and an emergency such as CPR is required.
The burden on hospital nursing staff will be reduced
This technology is currently being used in some big private hospitals, but in the government sector, GSVM Medical College is going to set an example by adopting this technology. These beds generate moment-by-moment reports, reducing the need to be with an attendant or doctor at all times. This will reduce the burden on nursing staff and patients will get better care.
Patients with serious illness will get good treatment
