Lucknow: In international cricket, players often announce their retirement before the age of 40, but now Yograj Singh, father of former Indian star all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, has given his reaction regarding this. He says that Indian team captain Rohit Sharma can play cricket till the age of 50 but for this he will have to set some standards. Let us tell you that Rohit is currently 37 years old and there is speculation that he may retire in the coming 2 years. However, the Indian captain is currently performing well with the bat in international cricket.

Yograj believes that if Rohit pays attention to his fitness, he can play cricket till the age of 50. Apart from this, the age scale should be abolished from Indian cricket. He says that if a player is performing well then he should play till the age of 40-45. While talking to News 18, he gave a big reaction about Rohit. Let us tell you that Sharma currently captains India in all three formats and he will be seen captaining Team India in the ICC T-20 World Cup 2024 to be held next month.
He said, “I have never been able to understand these things about age. You are 40 and old. Your children have grown up and your work is now over. This player is nearing 40 and now it is time for him to move on. Mohinder Amarnath was 38 years old when he made India win the World Cup. He was the player of the match in the final.”
Yograj further said that “Now the time has come that the age factor should be eliminated from Indian cricket. According to me, Rohit Sharma and Virender Sehwag are great players of India but both of them have never thought about their fitness. If Rohit pays attention to his fitness, he can play cricket for 50 years. Sir Gary Sobers wrote in his book that if he had known that fitness was so important, he would never have gone to parties. If he had paid attention to training, he would have scored a lot of runs. Age never matters, fitness matters most.”
