England T20I captain Jos Buttler has left Rajasthan Royals and will not be available for the remaining two league matches and the playoffs. Rajasthan are almost through to the next round, having won eight 8 contests in the Indian Premier League 2024.
Buttler will lead England in the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan. Other English players are also expected to leave their IPL franchises to participate in the games ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
Rajasthan uploaded a video of Buttler’s departure with an emotional song playing in the background. The right-handed batter met the officials and players before saying goodbye and requested them for a facetime with the IPL trophy.
After failing in the first few games, Jos returned to form with two hundreds in the 17th season. He won important contests for the 2008 champions. The management played him as an impact player affet he was ruled out of a couple of games due to an injury.
His absence will be felt as Buttler is one of the most consistent players in T20 cricket. According to a report in ESPNcricinfo, the Board of Control for Cricket in India had tried to negotiate with the England and Wales Cricket Board regarding the availability of their national players. However, it seems the talks didn’t yield any result.
