Jhansi. There was a stir at Veerangana Laxmibai Jhansi railway station when a couple caught by the police created a ruckus on the platform itself. This couple, who had cherished the dream of running away from home and getting married, clearly refused to bow down before the police and family members. Both khaki and blood relations appeared helpless in front of the girl’s stubbornness. Ultimately, after getting evidence that they were adults, the police had to leave both of them with a heavy heart.
Actually, last night a joint team of GRP, RPF and Detective Wing was patrolling the railway station to control crime. Meanwhile, a young man and a girl were seen in a suspicious condition near platform numbers four and five. When the police team interrogated him, layers started being revealed. Both of them identified themselves as residents of Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh. During interrogation, it was revealed that the young man and the girl were in love with each other for the last three years and were planning to run away from home and go somewhere far away.
The girl told the police that her family members were arranging her marriage somewhere else against her wishes. He protested several times, but when things did not work out, both of them decided to run away from Chhatarpur. As soon as the information was received, both of their families hurriedly reached Jhansi station. In the presence of the police, the family tried to convince the girl to go home, but within a few seconds the girl’s mood changed and she rebelled.
Amidst the uproar on the platform, the girl said bluntly, “When I have been in love with this boy for 3 years, why am I not getting married to him? I cannot spend my life with anyone else.” When the police checked the documents of both, they were found to be legal adults. By law, the police do not have the right to stop any adult couple against their will. Therefore, after a lot of struggle and persuasion, the RPF and GRP allowed both of them to go along and the family members returned empty handed.
