Mathura . President Draupadi Murmu reached Govardhan on Saturday during her stay in Mathura, where she circumambulated seven Kosi of the Govardhan mountain, a symbol of faith. With this journey, she has become the first President of the country to circumambulate Mount Govardhan. The President completed this parikrama in a golf cart, after which she left for New Delhi. Strict security arrangements were made by the administration for his historic visit.

Earlier, on Friday, the President inaugurated the Nand Kishore Somani Cancer Treatment Block at Ramakrishna Mission Sevashram in Vrindavan. In his address on this occasion, he described Ramakrishna Mission as a powerful symbol of the confluence of spiritual consciousness and humanitarian service. He said that the devotion of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and the service resolve of Swami Vivekananda have shown the path for the welfare of humanity, which is still the real expression of selfless service and compassion. The President’s schedule during his stay in Mathura was quite busy and spiritual. After reaching Mathura on Thursday evening, he offered prayers at the ISKCON temple and participated in the grand evening aarti. On Friday he paid a courtesy visit to the famous saint Premanand Maharaj at Shri Hit Radha Kelly Kunj Ashram.

In this meeting which took place amidst security, deep topics like spirituality, service and public welfare were discussed between the President and the King. On reaching the Ashram, the followers gave him a grand welcome in the traditional manner. Along with spiritual centres, the President also visited institutions to social concerns. She reached Vatsalya Gram, founded by Sadhvi Ritambhara, who is known for her protection of the elderly and orphan children. There he learned about the working of the institute and spent time with children and elders. This visit of the President has given a new height to the spiritual dignity and spirit of service of the Braj region.
