MS Dhoni and Sanju Samson were involved in an intense conversation during the Chennai Super Kings’ training camp ahead of the Indian Premier League 2026 on March 19. Samson joined the five-time champions after a trade with the Rajasthan Royals that also saw Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran move to the 2008 champions.

After his sensational performance in the T20 World Cup 2026, where he amassed 321 runs in five innings, Sanju landed in Chennai to join the CSK squad after spending time with his family. He was named the Player of the Tournament for his three-match winning innings against the West Indies, England and New Zealand in the global tournament.

The video of his interaction with the legendary skipper Dhoni has gone viral on social media. The CSK fans are looking forward to witnessing the partnership between the two wicket-keeper batters in the 19th season of the league.

Samson is excited after getting a chance to spend the IPL season alongside Dhoni, who has helped the young player in his career.

“I have spoken to Mahi bhai a lot on and off the field, but this will be the first time I will spend two months with him. I am very excited,” Samson told PTI.

“Whenever he calls or speaks to me, there is always a positive influence. However, being with him in the same IPL team for two months will have its benefits. Just thinking about it makes me happy. I will learn a lot by seeing how he approaches a game,” he added.

Chennai will play their opening match of the new campaign against RR on March 30 in Guwahati, and the team management is likely to include the duo in the playing XI.
