IPL: Those 2 players who never played T20I, made their respective teams champions as soon as they became captains in IPL.

Shane Warne- Rajat Patidar: The 19th season of IPL is about to start. But, before that, do you know about those two players, who never played T20 International, but when they captained the team in IPL, they directly made the team champion. The big thing is that both of them have done this feat while playing their first IPL season as captain. There is a difference of 17 years between the achievements of these two players. We are talking about Shane Warne and Rajat Patidar.

Shane Warne made RR win in 2008

Shane Warne made Rajasthan Royals the champion by captaining them in the first season of IPL. In the final played at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, Rajasthan Royals, under the captaincy of Shane Warne, won the IPL 2008 title by defeating Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings by 3 wickets. However, since then Rajasthan Royals have not been able to repeat that historic success.

Rajat Patidar makes RCB win in 2025

Like Shane Warne, Rajat Patidar also became the captain who won the title of Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL without playing any T20 International. Under his captaincy, RCB became the champion of IPL 2025 and ended its 17-year long wait for the trophy. Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Punjab Kings by 6 runs in the final played at their home ground.

Warne-Patidar played Test and ODI

Shane Warne and Rajat Patidar are the only two players to win the IPL under their own captaincy without playing T20 International. However, both the players have represented their respective countries well in the remaining two formats i.e. Test and ODI.

Shane Warne has played 145 Tests and 194 ODIs for Australia, in which he has taken a total of 1001 wickets. Rajat Patidar has played 3 Tests and 1 ODI for India so far, in which he has scored a total of 85 runs.
