Delhi: Before the bugle of IPL 2026, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has suffered a big blow. Actually, fast bowler Nathan Ellis (Nathan Ellis) has been ruled out of the entire tournament due to a hamstring injury. There is little hope for the 31-year-old bowler to recover at the right time. Last season, Ellis played one match for Chennai Super Kings. However, in the upcoming season, he was considered the strongest weapon of the team. He is known for bowling economically in the death overs.
Giving information about Ellis’s injury, CSK CEO K.S. Vishwanathan told Sportsstar,
‘This is a big blow for us. Ellis is an important bowler, especially in the death overs. We are looking for his replacement.
After Ellis’s exit, there is full hope that Matt Henry will make a place in CSK’s playing 11. The record of New Zealand’s fast bowler in T20I has been quite excellent.
He has taken 53 wickets in 43 matches at an economy rate of 8.50. However, Henry has not yet been able to leave his mark in the IPL. He played his last match in this tournament in 2024 for Lucknow Super Giants. In that season, he took only one wicket in 4 matches with an economy of 9.16.
In IPL 2026, Chennai Super Kings team will start its campaign against Rajasthan Royals on March 30. This match is to be played in Guwahati. After this, CSK will play its remaining three matches in the first phase against Punjab Kings, RCB and Delhi Capitals on April 3, 5, 11 respectively.
