Arjun Tendulkar was traded to Lucknow Super Giants from the Mumbai Indians for the Indian Premier League 2026. He managed to impress the LSG captain, Rishabh Pant. Arjun was not able to get game time during his stint with the five-time champions, and many think his move to the Lucknow-based franchise is good for the all-rounder. The youngster was spot on with his approach, and his bat weight carries a Sachin Tendulkar touch.

After joining Lucknow, he was seen talking to Pant during practice sessions at the Ekana Stadium. The two also discussed the bat weight, and the video of their conversation went viral on social media.

When asked about his willow, Arjun opened up on his preference for heavier bats, which surprised the wicket-keeper batter.

“1220 (gms). Touch karo toh jaati hai. Papa toh 1310-1315 sai kam nahi lete thai. Main toh 1200 se halka toh main jaata nahi hoon. (The ball travels. Papa used to play with 1310-1315. I don’t go below 1200,” Arjun said.

Pant was left surprised as modern-day players use lighter bats. Arjun joined the camp soon after his wedding earlier this month to prepare for the 19th season. This also impressed Pant as the 26-year-old is focused on his career.

Arjun’s liking for heavier bats reflects the influence of his father, Sachin Tendulkar, who was renowned for using heavier willows during his career.

Sachin relied on timing and placement instead of brutal power to dominate the bowlers in international cricket. This helped him in scoring runs and maintaining consistency. Arjun is following a similar path, choosing the bat that suits his batting.

He will be keen to make a mark for Lucknow Super Giants in the new season of the cash-rich league. He has been a part of five IPL matches in his career and is yet to deliver a magnificent performance with the bat and ball.

The move to LSG offers him a chance to cement his place in the Playing XI, and early signs show that he is ready to make his performance count. LSG will start their campaign against the Delhi Capitals on April 1.
