IPL: The Indian Premier League started in 2008 with 8 teams. After this, the number of teams fluctuated several times in the next few years. In 2011, 10 teams took part in the tournament, while in 2012–13 the number of teams was 9. After this, in 2014 the number was again reduced to 8. But then BCCI took a historic decision and increased the number of teams to 10 in 2022 by adding 2 more franchises in the form of Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants.

However, there has been one team in IPL history which has not paid its players their fees till date. This has been revealed by a strong player of Team India himself.

This team has not given money to the players

In fact, Indian cricketer Sreesanth recently made a big revelation in 'The Ranbir Show' and said that he has not yet received the money for playing for Kochi Tuskers Kerala. He says that even after so many years, he has not paid the contract money to the players included in his squad. The names of Ravindra Jadeja along with Muttiah Muralitharan, Mahela Jayawardene, Brendon McCullum are also included in these players. Sreesanth said,

“BCCI has paid you. Please give us our money now. By the way, whenever you make payment, remember 18 percent interest every year. I think we will get money by the time my children get married. The team was supposed to last three years, but it disbanded in the first year itself. No one has talked about this yet. But whenever the players meet, we talk about it.”

Kochi Tuskers Kerala out of the tournament in the very first year

In 2011, the Indian Premier League (IPL) got 2 new teams in the form of Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Pune Warriors. Both these teams were included in the tournament as a trial for 3 years. Pune played for 3 years, but Kerala was out of IPL in the very first year. BCCI showed him the way out for violating the terms of the agreement.

According to some reports, BCCI had suspended Kochi Tuskers for not paying Rs 155.3 crore. Then one of the team owners approached the court and challenged the board's decision. BCCI had to face defeat in this case and had to pay Rs 550 crore to the franchise. This is the reason why Sreesanth is now raising his demand for match fees.
