Delhi: Before the start of IPL 2026, a relief news has come out for the fans of Bengaluru. Actually, the Karnataka government has given permission to Karnataka State Cricket Association i.e. KSCA to host IPL matches at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Earlier there was suspense regarding the match being held at this venue.

Permission granted to hold matches at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium

Let us tell you that the first match of IPL 2026 is to be held on March 28 between RCB and Sunriders Hyderabad at Chinnaswamy Stadium, about which the fans are very excited.

KSCA Secretary Santosh Menon has confirmed that the Karnataka state government has given permission to hold matches in IPL 2026 on this ground.

While talking to Cricbuzz, he told that on March 13, the team of experts had inspected the changes made in the infrastructure of the stadium, with which he seemed satisfied. After this, its report was submitted by the committee to the Karnataka government and it was decided by them to organize the match in IPL 2026 on Chinnaswamy’s ground.

M. Chinnaswamy Stadium gets green signal

Giving information about this, KSCA said in the media release,

The report further said, after the recommendations of the expert committee and discussions regarding security arrangements, the Home Minister has officially given approval to organize IPL matches in the upcoming season at the historic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

M. Chinnaswamy will host 5 matches in the first phase of IPL 2026.

The opening match of IPL 2026 is to be played on M. Chinnaswamy’s ground only, in which RCB will face SRH. This match will start on March 28 at 7.30 pm. Apart from this match, Chinnaswamy will host 4 more matches in the first phase of IPL 2026.
