India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav said the country has enough talent to field two teams in the format. He credited domestic cricket and the Indian Premier League for taking cricket to new heights. Suryakumar recently led India to a T20 World Cup title at home.

He replaced Rohit Sharma as captain in 2024 and has been impressive as a batter and a leader. According to him, the domestic structure and the IPL have given rise to the talent pool in India.

He mentioned that new players are strengthening the bench strength. “New players are joining the team. You can make as many teams as you want in the shortest format,” he added.

Suryakumar further said that India’s depth shouldn’t be underestimated. “The talent is unlimited. You can make two or three teams, as our base is strong. This is a modest reply. There is no shame in accepting the truth,” he explained.

India have won 42 of the 52 matches played under Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy. The men’s team won the T20 World Cup in 2024 and then repeated the success in 2026. India is the first team to win two consecutive T20 World Cups. The sub-continent nation is one of the most powerful in world cricket.
