In an exclusive interaction with CricTracker, England wicketkeeper-batter Sam Billingsrevealed his all-time T20 XI. Interestingly, he left out World Cup-winning captains Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni from the lineup. Dhoni led Indian team to lift the T20 World Cup in inaugural edition in 2007 and Rohit led the Men in Blue to their second title in 2024. Sam Billings has played 396 T20 matches, scoring 7,508 runs at a strike rate of 133.23, including one century and 36 half-centuries.
Billings named Universe Boss Chris Gayle as one opener, who has scored 1,899 T20I runs in 79 games, and 14,562 runs across 463 T20 matches overall. His other opener is teammate Jos Buttler, who has amassed 4,037 runs in 155 T20Is. Former Indian captain Virat Kohli occupies the No.3 spot, with 4,188 T20I runs in 125 matches. The right-handed batter has scored 13543 runs in 414 T20 games.
At No.4, Billings chose South African superstar AB de Villiers, who scored 1,672 T20I runs in 78 games and 9,424 runs across 340 T20s. The wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran slots in at No.5, with 10,371 runs in 443 T20s, followed by West Indies great Kieron Pollard at No.6, who has scored 14,482 runs and taken 333 wickets.
The all-rounders include Andre Russell, with 9,636 runs and 508 wickets in 590 T20s. Sunil Narine and Rashid Khan were named as the spinners, taking 613 and 702 wickets respectively in their T20 careers. The pacers are Indian ace speedster Jasprit Bumrah, who has taken 345 wickets in 270 matches and yorker king Lasith Malinga who has taken 390 wickets in 295 T20 matches. Billings named Australia left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc as 12th man, with 217 wickets in 158 T20s.
