BCCI has honored two superstar players of the Indian cricket team for their excellent performance. Like every year, once again BCCI's annual awards were organized and the most successful players of the last season were honoured. Indian men's team's ODI and Test captain Shubman Gill was honored with the Cricketer of the Year award for the 2024-25 season. Indian women's team's star opener Smriti Mandhana was also given the Cricketer of the Year Award for the same season.
Many stars of Indian cricket were present in this award event held in a hotel in New Delhi on Sunday 15 March. Apart from the women's and men's teams that won the Under-19 World Cup, the Indian team captained by Suryakumar Yadav, which recently won the T20 World Cup, was also present in this event. The women's team of captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who won the World Cup for the first time, also became a part of this event, while the team that won the Champions Trophy last year was also a part of it. All these winners were honored with medals by BCCI.
Then came the time for the most special award of this event, when Smriti Mandhana and Shubman Gill were honored. Mandhana was honored with this award for scoring 1800 runs in the last season. Shubman Gill was given the Polly Umrigar Cricketer of the Year Award for scoring 1565 runs in this season. Both were given a special trophy for their award. But not only the trophy, Smriti and Gill also got a cash award for this. Both the stars also received Rs 15 lakh each from BCCI.
