Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken action against a Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) player for violating the code of conduct during an Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) match. He has been penalized by the BCCI for committing a Level 1 offense under Section 2.20 of the IPL Code of Conduct in the match played against Mumbai Indians (MI).
KKR all-rounder Ramandeep Deep Singh has been fined 20 percent of his match fee by the BCCI, but it is not clear what his offense is.
A statement issued by the IPL said, “Kolkata Knight Riders' Ramandeep Singh has been fined Rs 20 for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during the 60th match of IPL 2024 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on May 11. He has confessed to his crime. The match referee's decision for a Level 1 breach of the Code of Conduct is final and binding.”
KKR defeated MI
Ramandeep, who came to bat at number eight in the match played against Mumbai Indians, scored 17 runs in 8 balls. During this unbeaten innings, he hit one four and one six at a strike rate of 212.50. Due to rain, in the 16-16 over match, Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bowl first, while KKR batted first and scored 157 runs. Venkatesh Iyer scored the highest 42 runs for KKR. In reply, Mumbai Indians could score only 139 runs in 20 overs and lost the match by 18 runs. This is Mumbai's ninth defeat of the season.
