Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Muzarabani has been signed by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, the franchise announced on Friday.
Muzarabani is a likely replacement for Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman, who was released from the KKR squad on BCCI’s instructions following political tensions between India and Bangladesh.
“The 6 ft 8” right-arm quick has emerged as one of Zimbabwe’s leading pace bowlers in the shortest format, known for his steep bounce and ability to strike in key phases of the innings. Muzarabani brings significant T20 experience, having claimed over 90 wickets in more than 80 T20 Internationals at an average of around 21, with best figures of 3/8,” KKR said in a statement.
“His pace and consistency across global leagues and international cricket add further depth to KKR’s pace attack heading into the season,” the franchise added.
Muzarabani was Zimbabwe’s leading wicket-taker during the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2026, where he picked up 13 wickets in six matches.
The 29-year-old had joined Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) last year as a replacement for the injured Lungi Ngidi. However, he didn’t get a game during RCB’s run to the title.
Muzarabani is scheduled to arrive in Kolkata on March 17.
