Former NZ bowler Mitchell McClenaghan stated that CSK are missing the bowling of Mustafizur Rahman and Matheesha Pathirana. While the Bangladesh pacer left to play against Zimbabwe, Pathirana was ruled out due to an injury.
CSK lost to Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The hosts posted 231 for 3.
The opening pair of GT skipper Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan went on a rampage against CSK bowlers and added 210 runs for the first wicket in 17.2 overs. In the eighteenth over, Tushar Deshpande dismissed both openers, but the damage had already been done. Reflecting on CSK’s miserable bowling performance, McClenaghan stated that Mustafizur and Pathirana would have managed to halt the onslaught of GT batters.
“CSK missed the effective bowling of Pathirana and Mustafizur anf their ability to take wickets. You would have sensed that they would have found a way on a wicket like that,” noted McClenaghan.
The former Mumbai Indians pacer added that it was not ideal for CSK to give 4 overs to Daryl Mitchell. Mitchell had a difficult day with the ball and finished with figures of 4-0-52-0. He scored 63 off 34 with the bat.
“It’s not ideal that they had to depend on Daryl Mitchell to bowl four overs,” he continued.
CSK could only muster 196 for 8 in 20 overs. The Super Kings are in the fourth place in the points table with 12 points.
