Gautam Gambhir is an icon for the Kolkata Knight Riders. He led the franchise to two IPL titles. When Gambhir joined the Knight Riders, Sourav Ganguly had just left, causing a stir among the supporters of the team. But Gambhir’s style and leadership soon won over the supporters.

He returned to the Delhi Capitals (then Daredevils) before the 2018 season, and he eventually retired from the league the same year. But fans’ love for Gambhir remained unwavering, and they requested him to return to KKR.

After serving as the mentor of Lucknow Super Giants for two seasons, Gambhir agreed to return to KKR earlier this year as a mentor.

During a KKR event, a fan who couldn’t control his emotions, appealed to the former opener to never leave the team again.

“I am one of your biggest fans. We cannot express how hurt we were to see you go. I wish to dedicate you a Bengali song. We will always hold you close to our hearts. Don’t hurt us, please, and never leave us please,” said the fan.

Gambhir heard the song’s meaning from someone else, maybe the host. “I will keep you right here; I’ll never leave you,” is what he sang in one of his lines. The person added, “I think that’s the sentiment that everyone has,” to which Gambhir responded, “Thank you.”
