This happened when there was a lot of discussion about his selection in the team. He was a part of the set-up of the Indian team since winning the T20 World Cup in 2024. But, the selectors finally expressed their confidence in Ishan Kishan who was out of Team India for 2 years. The reason for Ishaan's selection was his strong performance in domestic cricket, due to which it became difficult for the selectors to ignore him.
Jitesh Sharma was sad after not being selected in the T20 World Cup team. It was natural for this to happen. But, now that the T20 World Cup 2026 is over, Jitesh Sharma has told a painful truth. He told that after his not being selected in the T20 World Cup team, his father also passed away. He told that his father died on 1 February.
According to Jitesh Sharma, when he was sad after not being selected in the T20 World Cup team, his family and friends supported him a lot. He recovered from that moment of sorrow. But then his father's death shook him. He told that he was with his father for 7 days. Jitesh Sharma further said that later he realized that his father needed him more than the World Cup and he has no regrets about it. Jitesh said that he is thankful to God that he could be with his father in his last days and take care of him.
Jitesh said that after the passing of his father, the responsibility of the family now rests on his shoulders. He takes care of his mother, brother and family and does not show his emotions in front of them. Jitesh said that he has learned to live with his career and the grief of losing his father.
