Delhi: : Team India has once again become the crown in the T20 World Cup. In the 10th edition of the ICC T20 World Cup, the Indian cricket team won the title by defeating New Zealand. Men in Blue, who came under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav with the tag of hot favourite, made it meaningful and won the final match by a huge margin of 96 runs.
From the beginning of this Mahakumbh, which was jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, Team India showed a tremendous game. They definitely faltered against South Africa in the Super-8, but apart from this, the team did not even give a chance to any opposition team to breathe and managed to capture the title.
After becoming the champion of T20 World Cup 2026, the Indian cricket team has achieved this big feat for the second consecutive time. This victory has many special meanings, here India became the first team to win the title as the host, while it also became the first team to win 2 trophies back to back. Not only this, this Man in Blue has also completed a title hat-trick in the history of T20 World Cup.
In the 10 editions of the T20 World Cup that started in 2007, the Indian cricket team has become the only team to win 3 titles. Before this, Team India had already won the Mahakumbh in 2007, while in the last World Cup played in 2024 hosted by America and West Indies, it was also successful in crossing the finishing line. Earlier, India was jointly present in the list of winning the title 2-2 times with England and West Indies.
In T20 International cricket, many teams of world cricket have been seen trying hard for years, in which Team India is establishing its dominance year after year. The Indian team has made unilateral dominance in this format in the last few years. In 2024, Team India played 26 matches in which it won 24 matches and lost only 2 matches. After this, the year 2025 also passed well and out of 21 matches in that calendar year, they won 16 matches and lost 3 matches, while 2 matches remained inconclusive. Team India’s game so far in 2026 has been excellent even in its short journey. This year Surya and Company have won 12 out of 14 matches and lost only 2 matches.
The Indian team has been playing T20 International cricket since 2006. Since then, the Blue Army has played 277 matches, in which India has won 194 matches and lost only 75 matches. The winning percentage of Team India has been around 72.
Indian team is gradually establishing its dominance in T20 International cricket and now looking at the way and style of playing of Team India, a question comes to mind that has Team India become the powerhouse of T20 International cricket in the present era? So let’s do a complete analysis of the answer to this question.
Team India won the first T20 World Cup in 2007 and after that it took 7 World Cups and 17 years to win the next title. The Indian team was continuously playing as a contender, but was not able to win the title. Ultimately this spell broke in 2024 under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav’s team also continued this style in 2026. A major reason for this can be attributed to the change in the playing style of the Indian team.
There was a lot of change in the batting of Team India, while from fielding to bowling, aggressive thinking and the style of not letting the opposition team get up at any time was visible. This changed style has made the Indian team very dangerous.
When three big and experienced players of the Indian team left together in the 2024 T20 World Cup, the team was considered weak. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja retired from T20 International.
But then the Indian team management prepared an army of youth. The team included an experienced captain like Suryakumar Yadav and apart from Hardik Pandya, Varun Chakraborty and Jasprit Bumrah, most of the players were around 30 or below. Young players like Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Tilak Verma, Rinku Singh, Arshdeep Singh, Shivam Dubey were prepared in the team. This young brigade of India is so dangerous that their fear is clearly visible in the opposing teams.
There was a time when the Indian team could not play T20 International cricket very fast. She used to play it in her traditional style only. But now the mind set of the batsmen has completely changed, where counter attack mode has been adopted as soon as they enter the crease, everyone from the openers to the middle order and then the lower middle order of the team has started batting with explosive style, due to this the strategy of putting pressure on the opposing team throughout the innings is being adopted and it is also proving to be effective. For this reason, it can be seen that Team India comes with the approach of 200+ and is also achieving it.
The Indian cricket team was always considered a team with batting strength, but now India has many excellent options in bowling. Variety is beginning to be seen in the bowling attack of Team India. Hardik Pandya is seen with Arshdeep Singh for the initial overs, then spinners like Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakraborty, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav do their work, along with bowlers like Mohammad Siraj, Harshit Rana and all these bowlers are used according to the circumstances of the match and they also do their job well.
Today the Indian team is not dependent on any one or two players, rather the team has an army of match winners. For Team India, sometimes Sanju Samson, sometimes Abhishek Sharma, sometimes Ishan Kishan, sometimes Suryakumar Yadav, similarly, be it Hardik Pandya or Tilak Verma, sometimes Akshar Patel, Varun Chakraborty and sometimes Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh win the match single-handedly. From this it can be understood that the team is playing as a unit.
conclusion: : Today the Indian cricket team has explosive batsmen, deadly bowlers and a long army of youth. The new talent coming out of IPL is making the team stronger every year. This is the reason why cricket experts have started believing that India has now become the real powerhouse of T20 cricket.
