India showed its batting strength against New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2026 final and posted 255 for five at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan struck blazing half centuries at the top of the order to give India a strong start.
Shivam Dube’s attack in the final over got India to 255, the highest team score in a T20 World Cup final. Across all T20 World Cup matches, this was the third-highest score.
Sri Lanka holds the record for the highest score in T20 World Cups.
It had posted 260 runs against Kenya in the inaugural edition.India had come close to breaking this record in the Super Eight stage, but fell agonisingly short at 256 runs. Suryakumar Yadav’s side had another shot at breaking the record in the semifinal against England but settled for 253.
