Australia all-rounder Annabel Sutherland set a new world record by becoming the first women’s player to score three consecutive Test centuries after she passed three figures against India in the one-off Test match at the WACA in Perth. The 24-year-old created history, scoring 129 off 171 balls in the day-night Test.
There have previously been four women to score hundreds in two consecutive games, but the all-rounder now stands at the summit all by herself. Interestingly, all her Test hundreds have come in different years. She scored 210 against South Africa in 2024 before hitting 163 against arch-rivals England in last year’s Ashes. She now scored a century against India in 2026.
Sutherland’s Test form has been through the roof. In only her seventh Test appearance, the Australian has four centuries, also holding the record for the most Test centuries scored by an Australian woman. Apart from the four centuries in Tests, she also has three ODI centuries, with her most recent hundred in the format coming against New Zealand in December 2024.
Sutherland has been in brilliant form against India as before her exploits with the bat, she took four wickets in the first innings to restrict the visitors to 198.
Annabel Sutherland has won multiple honours with AustraliaSutherland, 24, has already achieved plenty of success in her relatively short international career. The all-rounder has formed part of multiple title-winning Australian squads.
She has won two T20 World Cups, in 2020 and 2023, and the ODI World Cup in 2022. The right-hander was also part of the Australian contingent, which won the gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games after beating India in the final at Edgbaston.
