Rahul Dravid and Ravichandran Ashwin are set to become the owners of the franchises in the European T20 Premier League, with the Indian group agreeing to buy a Glasgow-based team for the competition, scheduled in August.

According to the BBC, the same consortium is also investing in a Dutch-based franchise, while the likes of Faf du Plessis, Heinrich Klaasen and Jonty Rhodes, along with a South Africa-based group, will also acquire a team.

Dravid has a connection with Scotland as he played for the country in the fifty-over tournament in 2023, competing in 11 games for three months in the second division.

He scored 600 runs at an average of 66.66, with the help of three hundreds and two half-centuries.

On the other hand, Ashwin is ready to play in global leagues after taking retirement from international cricket and the Indian Premier League. If he decides to be a part of the upcoming league, his participation as a player and owner would be beneficial for the new tournament.

Ashwin had agreed to play for Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League, but he suffered a knee injury and was ruled out. Ashwin is fit enough to feature as a player in the European league, but his involvement as an owner is also good for the event.
