Gorakhpur (Khajani). A heart-wrenching incident has come to light from Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh. In Dhadhupar village of Khajni police station area, late on Tuesday night, a man brutally murdered his wife by slitting her neck with a shovel. Doubts on character and alcoholism scripted this bloody incident. Amidst the chaos in the house, when the innocent children tried to save their mother, the father chased them away by threatening to kill them. At present, the police has arrested the accused husband.

The courtyard turned red with ‘blood’ at midnight

According to the police, Ashok Nishad and his wife Neelam Devi (38) were married 20 years ago. Everything was going well, but for some time Ashok had started doubting his wife’s character. An altercation started between the two regarding this matter at around 1.30 am on Tuesday night. Within no time the dispute escalated to such an extent that Ashok lost his temper and picked up a shovel kept in the house and hit it on his wife’s neck. Neelam died tragically on the spot.

Ran to kill even innocent children

When screams were heard inside the house, Ashok’s 17-year-old son Suraj and 14-year-old daughter Srishti ran to save their mother. But the father, who had become a beast, tried to attack him too. To save their lives, both the children ran out of the house at midnight and called the neighbors for help. By the time the villagers reached the spot, Neelam was lying on the ground soaked in blood and her breathing had stopped.

The accused was a carpenter in Mumbai, got addicted to alcohol after coming to the village

Son Suraj told the police that his father earlier worked as a carpenter in Mumbai and earned well. But after returning to the village a few years ago, he started farming and animal husbandry and during this time he got addicted to alcohol. Under the influence of alcohol, he often beat and quarreled with his mother. The police have registered a case of murder on the complaint of the deceased’s father Rajendra Nishad.

Police action and investigation

Khajni police station took immediate action and arrested the accused Ashok Nishad. Police have also recovered the shovel used in the murder. The body has been sent for post-mortem. There is silence in the village after the incident and both the children are in deep shock.
