IPL’s current champion team Royal Challengers Bangalore
Yes, that is what has happened. Actually, RCB has released its official statement and told the fans that they will play a total of 5 matches in IPL 2026 at their home ground i.e. M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Apart from this, their two home matches will be held at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur.
RCB said in its press release, “This step has been taken after months of hard work and negotiations between all the concerned authorities. The aim is to bring games back on home grounds for the fans. RCB expresses its gratitude to the Government of Karnataka, Karnataka State Cricket Association and Karnataka Police for their cooperation and support in facilitating the hosting of matches in Bengaluru. “
Rajesh Menon, CEO, Royal Challengers Bangalore, said, “The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium is more than just our home ground. It is where our identity as a team truly comes to life. The energy that our fans bring to Bengaluru has always been a driving force for our players, motivating them at every stage of the game. Our fans have stood by us unconditionally, and they deserve the opportunity to see their team compete on home soil. Are.”
He further added, “After detailed discussions and completing the necessary process regarding permissions, we are happy to confirm that RCB will play five matches in Bengaluru. We sincerely thank the Government of Karnataka, KSCA and Karnataka Police for their support in making this possible.”
It is noteworthy that last year when RCB won the champion title, they held the trophy celebration at their home ground Chinnaswamy Stadium. The situation had worsened here due to poor planning and lack of crowd control and due to this 11 people died in the crowd stampede. Since then no match has been played on the Bengaluru ground.
