Today, the Super-8 match of T20 World Cup 2026 is being played between India and Zimbabwe at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Zimbabwe won the toss and invited India to bat. This match between the two teams is very important, especially for India, because in this Group-1 match, the Indian team will have to win to keep its hopes alive.
India has made two changes in its playing eleven. In place of Washington Sundar and Rinku, vice-captain Akshar Patel and Sanju Samson have been included in the team. This change is in line with the strategic needs of the Indian team.
Zimbabwe has made one change in its playing eleven. This change could make it even more challenging for India, as Zimbabwe has performed brilliantly in the early matches and defeated West Indies by 107 runs in the first match.
This match is ‘do or die’ for India, because the team had to face defeat by South Africa by 76 runs in its first Super-8 match. After this defeat, India’s net run rate (-3.80) has deteriorated, due to which it is necessary to win this match at any cost to maintain the hopes of the semi-finals.
India got its first blow in the form of Sanju Samson. He could not play a big innings and was out after scoring 24 runs in 15 balls. He hit one four and two sixes. Samson was dismissed by Blessing Muzarabani on the fourth ball of the fourth over. He was trying to hit a six towards deep midwicket, but was caught by Ryan Burl. During this, he made a partnership of 48 runs with Abhishek Sharma.
India’s team includes Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Tilak Verma, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dubey, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakraborty and Jasprit Bumrah.
At the same time, in the Zimbabwe team, Tadivanashe Marumani (wicketkeeper), Brian Bennett, Dion Myers, Ryan Burl, Alexander Raza (captain), Tony Munyonga, Tashinga Musekiwa, Brad Evans, Tinotenda Maphosa, Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarwa have come on the field.
This match is very important for both the teams and can prove to be a decisive clash for the Indian team towards reaching the semi-finals.
