Experienced leg-spinner Imran Tahir will be donning the Dolphins jersey once again, as he has been named in their squad for the upcoming CSA One-Day Cup 2026. Tahir last played for the Dolphins during the 2019-20 season after spending time for almost a decade with them. Meanwhile, JJ Smuts, the former South Africa international, who recently played for Italy in the T20 World Cup, has also returned.

The arrival of Tahir and Smuts, among other players, comes amid the busy schedules of the South African players currently busy with the T20 World Cup and then the upcoming New Zealand tour. Spin bowler Prenelan Subrayen will be captaining the Dolphins for the upcoming season, whereas Keshav Maharaj will be leading the national side on the tour against the BlackCaps.

"Imran is a fantastic team guy, and we are really looking forward to having him in our space for the One Day Cup. With us losing all those players for the New Zealand tour, I thought it would be great to bring in a guy like Imran with all his experience, and we're really excited to have him in our changeroom," Dolphins coach Quinton Friend said in a statement, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

"The One Day Cup is a huge competition domestically, and if you look at how Cricket South Africa are trying to build a squad for the World Cup next year, it's crucial that the players understand the 50-over format. I think it's a fantastic format, and building up to that World Cup it's really important that we can focus on the things we want to achieve as a nation at that tournament. From a CSA perspective, the One Day Cup is massive for domestic cricket and is definitely one of those competitions that everyone wants to win," Friend added.
