Singh believes that Gill has not batted at a good strike rate this season and that is why Gujarat is struggling a lot this season. He said, “Shubman Gill has disappointed everyone with his batting this year. Last season he had won the Purple Cap but this time he has not been in good form. Gill's strike rate has been the biggest problem this season, where other teams are scoring very fast in the powerplay, his strike rate in overs 1-6 is 122 and it needs to be improved. He can do this and increase his strike rate.”
The 24-year-old batsman has played a total of 11 matches so far this season, in which he has scored 322 runs with an average of 33 and a strike rate of more than 140. During this period, he has scored 2 half-centuries with his bat, while his best score has been 89 runs. So his strike rate in powerplay has been only 122. This is a surprising figure because this season many times 100 runs have been scored in the first 6 overs, while many times more than 80 runs have been scored. In such a situation, his batting like this is beyond everyone's understanding.
