Australia were forced to make several changes to their team due to injury concerns. In contrast, Oman have remained consistent, fielding a stable XI in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. For Australia, the match against Oman is the final opportunity to conclude the global tournament on a positive note.
Australia’s Mitchell Marsh will open the innings alongside Travis Head. Head played a solid knock against Sri Lanka, although his efforts went in vain in the end.
Steve Smith, the seasoned campaigner, replaced injured Josh Hazlewood. Smith is undoubtedly a part of Australia’s plans and should be given an opportunity. Meanwhile, the rest of the middle order remains unchanged, with Cameron Green, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, and Tim David continuing to provide the firepower.
Australia have felt the absence of Josh Hazlewood, with the pace attack failing to make breakthroughs. Nathan Ellis and Xavier Bartlett haven’t been impressive, while Adam Zampa has also struggled.

Meanwhile, Aamir Kaleem and Jatinder Singh will open the innings for Oman. Kaleem, who showed good form with the bat against Ireland, will test Australia’s vulnerable bowling attack. Jatinder hasn’t been among the runs.
Hammad Mirza isn’t the conventional number 3 for Oman, but having been a former opener, he’s been given a new role in the middle order. Mohammad Nadeem is another key player, but his strike rate remains a concern. Vinayak Shukla, known for his explosive batting, has struggled for runs recently, but his ability to turn the game on its head is undeniable.
Sufyan Mehmood remains Oman’s most effective bowler, regularly making breakthroughs with the new ball, while Faisal Shah offers stability. Nadeem Khan holds the key as their lead spinner.
