game : Afghanistan finished their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign with an emphatic 82-run win, defeating Canada in every department. Ibrahim Zadran won the Player of the Match (POTM) award for his brilliant inning of 95 and dedicated it to his head coach Jonathan Trott.

Zadran said, “I would like to dedicate this award to our coach, Jonathan Trott. He has taught us a lot and supported the entire team. Under his guidance, we have achieved a lot of success in international cricket. This is our last day with him, and we will miss him very much.”

Trott helped build the team into a competitive white-ball team after becoming Afghanistan coach in July 2022, and under his leadership Afghanistan made it to the semi-finals of the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Talking about the match, Afghanistan, batting first, scored a huge score of 200/4 with the help of captaincy innings of Ibrahim Zadran (95 runs in 56 balls) and Sediqullah Atal (44 runs). Canadian bowler Jaskarandeep Singh took 3 wickets, but his effort failed.

In response to Canada’s target of 201 runs, Afghanistan’s bowlers performed brilliantly. Mohammad Nabi (4/7) and Rashid Khan (2/19) demolished the Canadian batsmen with their bowling, and Canada was reduced to 118/8. Afghanistan won the match by 82 runs and ended their tournament with an encouraging victory.
