T20 World Cup The excitement now seems to be moving towards its second round. In such a situation, the movement has also intensified before that. The process of stopping the journey of many teams in the tournament has started. After the Group D match between New Zealand and Canada played in Chennai, 3 teams were eliminated from the tournament in one fell swoop. All three teams that were eliminated were from this group. This happened due to New Zealand's victory against Canada by 8 wickets.
In fact, till now only South Africa had qualified for the Super-8 from Group D of T20 World Cup 2026. But, after defeating Canada, New Zealand also crossed the qualification mark. South Africa qualified from Group D by finishing first while New Zealand qualified by finishing second. With this happening, the remaining 3 teams of this group were out of the race for Super-8. Among the teams from Group D whose dream of reaching Super 8 was shattered, apart from Afghanistan, there were teams from UAE and Canada.
For Super-8, not only the names of teams from Group D have been decided but apart from that, two teams from Group C have also been confirmed. The two teams going to Super-8 from this group are West Indies and England. Apart from these, the remaining 3 teams – Scotland, Italy and Nepal – were out of the race. Meaning his journey stopped at the group stage itself.
The conditions of Group A and Group B in T20 World Cup 2026 are similar. So far only 1 team each from these two groups has qualified for the Super-8 stage. India has qualified from Group A while the team that has qualified from Group B is Sri Lanka. Due to some upheavals in both these groups, the wait for the other team has increased.
